After the dramatic curves of the S-bend silhouette, the fashionable figure of the early 1900s gradually shifted to favor a long, columnar line instead. The bust remained low and full, but the hip-line narrowed before flaring out again in the later in the decade.

Our 1910s mid-bust corset smooths the waist and hips and supports the bust without creating a dramatic push-up effect. The bottom edge extends to the low hip, but the boning stops several inches higher, allowing the wearer to sit comfortably. We have 1910s corsets in a underbust style as well, which was much more common in the period.

Details:

  • Appropriate for 1909–1920
  • Cotton sateen fashion fabric outer layer
  • English cotton coutil and twill strength/lining layers
  • Front-opening steel busk
  • Steel boning throughout
  • Plus sizes (18–26) feature additional boning for added support, as well as an additional front seam to provide more shaping
  • Center back lacing with two-piece nickel grommets

Our stays and corsets are based closely on historical pattern shapes and extant examples, but utilize theatrical construction techniques and modern materials to bring you an accurate silhouette in a sturdy, comfortable garment. You can read more about the research and inspiration for these stays on our blog.
