In a dramatic departure from the rigid, conical silhouettes of previous centuries, women of the Regency era adopted a softer, more romantic look with a raised waist and columnar line. To achieve the new fashionable silhouette, they began wearing corsets which emphasized and lifted the curve of the bust.
Our Regency short stays are the perfect foundation for the neoclassical-inspired fashions of the early 1800s through the late 1820s. This style is a lighter alternative to a full length corset. With that in mind, we recommend our long stays for plus sizes as they provide more shaping and support.
