1860's Gored Corset -- Standard & Plus Sizing
We've studied the extant corsets from the 1850's-1860's to bring you a well fit, accurate crinoline era gored corset. These corsets feature center front busk, a lower mid bust height, bias cut front panels, bust and hip gores, steel boning throughout, English cotton coutil strength layer, white cotton sateen fashion fabric, and center back lacing with two piece nickel grommets. Plus Sizing (18-26 Womens) features additional boning throughout for added support. A drawstring (new feature as of June 2019!) helps shape the bust edge.
These corsets nip in the waist, smooth the hips and torso, and support the bust without creating a dramatic push-up effect. This more natural bustline is historically appropriate. The lacing placket seam is adjustable, so you can fine tune fit. The higher hip line is appropriate for the era, when full skirts made hip shaping less important.
All Redthreaded corsets are handmade by us in our Colorado studio. Please see our other listings for custom sizing, corsetry for other historical periods, avant garde corsets, and other costume pieces.
