As the fashionable shape evolved through the late 1820s through the early 1840s, so did the necessary foundation garments. Stays of the period generally retained the same shapes and seaming as earlier styles, but they, too, shifted towards a curvier, hourglass silhouette.
While they have similar bust and hip gores when compared with our Regency long stays, our 1830s stays have a less extreme push-up bustline, a lower hip line, and a higher, more defined waist. These stays feature a curved version of our exclusive Redthreaded wooden busk, which helps to correct modern posture and support the bust, and the adjustable straps draw the shoulders back and allow you to anchor 1830s sleeve supports in place.
