Our 1880s Victorian corsets are the perfect foundation for fashions of the last quarter of the 19th century, encompassing both the bustle and Belle Époque periods. Though styles changed rapidly over these decades, they still emphasized an elongated waist with smooth hip. Compared to our 1860s gored corset, it has a higher bust height and a longer hip line, with boning over the entire hip to best suit the closer-fitted silhouettes of the period.
Made with shaped pieces rather than gussets or gores, this corsets nips in the waist, smooths the hips and torso, and supports the bust without creating a dramatic modern push-up effect. It hits mid-bust, and this more natural bustline is historically appropriate. A drawstring at the top helps shape the bust edge.
