Victorian Lobster Tail Bustle - In Stock
Our "Shorty" Lobster Tail bustles are based on historical examples from the 1880's, but can work for the earlier 1870's silhouettes as well. They are a bit easier to wear and travel with than the longer lobster tails that one usually sees replicated from this era.
Skirt supports are made from the same high quality cotton sateen that we use for the fashion fabric on our corsets, so the undergarments coordinate. The cage is made with steel hoops, and can hold many pounds of skirts (tried and tested!). The steels are removable for easy washing. A cute little ruffle softens the bottom edge. The waistband is adjustable with a drawstring over a twill tape, which can be tied at center front or off to the side to create less bulk under your gown.
All Redthreaded skirt supports are handmade in small batches by a local non-profit. Partnership with Mile High Workshop allows us to bring you more historical accessories than we would otherwise be able to make in-house, and to help create even more jobs within our community. We are proud to help bring manufacturing back to the USA!
