The Charlotte Stays are based directly on an extant pair held in the collection of the Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR) in Washington, DC. Their stays date to the mid-1830's, and were likely worn as bridal stays according to family provenance. This style would work for late 1820s to early 1840s. We have closely copied the cording details, embroidery, and softness of the original pair.
These stays are lighter than the other 1830s style in the Atelier line. They are made without coutil, instead utilizing a soft twill and drab cotton sateen, as per the originals. The entire body of the stays is cut on the bias, making for a very soft, comfortable fit. Cording and synthetic whalebone provide structure and support.
Made to your measurements. A mockup is included with all Atelier orders for a fully bespoke experience.
Due to the varying availability of materials, some minor details may change such as exact lace/trims etc. We can customize most details, colors, materials, etc.
