IMPERFECT Regency Long Stays
"Imperfect" corsets may be slightly older variations on a style, may have cosmetic imperfections such as minor marks or discoloration from fittings/handling or wear during photoshoots, or minor stitching irregularities. These imperfections in no way alter the durability or fit.
Redthreaded Regency long stays are based on historical extant examples from Jane Austen's time. These are appropriate for costuming the early 1800's, through the late 1820's. Regency corsets feature an exclusive Redthreaded wooden busk, steel boning throughout, English cotton coutil strength layer, white cotton sateen fabric, and center back lacing with two piece nickel grommets. Plus Sizing (18-26 Womens) features additional boning throughout for added support. The long stays provide more support and shaping through the torso than short stays.
The regency era saw a departure from the rigid, conical silhouettes of previous eras. Women adopted a more romantic look with an "empire" waistline, and began wearing corsets which emphasized and raised the curve of the bust. The wooden busk front coaxes a modern wearer into a more historically correct posture.
All Redthreaded corsets are handmade by us in our Colorado studio. Please see our other listings for custom sizing, corsetry for other historical periods, avant garde corsets, and other costume pieces.
