IMPERFECT S-Bend Corset -- 1898-1905
"Imperfect" corsets have cosmetic imperfections such as minor marks or discoloration from fittings/handling or wear during photoshoots, or minor stitching irregularities. These imperfections in no way alter the durability or fit.
Our Turn of the Century S-Bend corset has all the curve and drama of the Gibson Girl silhouette in a mid-bust corset. These corsets feature center front busk, straight steel boning throughout, English cotton coutil strength layer, white organic cotton poplin fashion fabric, waist tape, and center back lacing with two piece nickel grommets.
These corsets nip in the waist and exaggerate the hips, creating the iconic "S-bend" shape. This era was all about large round hips, tiny waists and low bosoms. These corsets are cut at a lower mid-bust height, helping to create that low bustline. To help you achieve this silhouette without extreme tightlacing, we have patterned these corsets with an extra 2-3" in the hip compared to our other styles. We include optional hip pads which can be tacked or pinned into the hip of the corset to fill out the side back. This creates the illusion of a smaller waist. These corsets are intended for moderate waist reduction (2-4") but are not intended for waist training or daily wear.
All Redthreaded corsets are handmade by us in our Colorado studio. Please see our other listings for custom sizing, corsetry for other historical periods, avant garde corsets, and other costume pieces.
