IMPERFECT 1910's Underbust Titanic Corset
"Imperfect" corsets have cosmetic imperfections such as minor marks or discoloration from fittings/handling or wear during photoshoots, or minor stitching irregularities. These imperfections in no way alter the durability or fit.
We now have 1910's corsets in underbust as well as mid-bust. Underbust was much more common in the period. These feature center front busk, steel boning throughout, English cotton coutil strength layer, white cotton sateen fashion fabric, and center back lacing with two piece nickel grommets. Plus Sizing (18-26 Womens) features additional boning throughout for added support, as well as an additional SF seam for better shaping.
These corsets smooth the waist and hips. This era was all about creating a smooth, long, columnar silhouette. The bottom edge extends to the low hip, but the boning stops several inches higher, allowing the wearer to sit. This style would have been worn with a "bust bodice," an early type of bra (although a modern bra can work--don't worry, we won't tell!).
All Redthreaded corsets are handmade by us in our Colorado studio. Please see our other listings for custom sizing, corsetry for other historical periods, avant garde corsets, and other costume pieces.
