FIT SAMPLE SALE 1780's Front Lacing Stays -- Synthetic Whalebone
Front lacing stay style based extant examples from the late 1700's. This style utilizes historical shapes, theatrical construction techniques, and synthetic whalebone to bring you the silhouette of the later Georgian era. Read more about synthetic whalebone here. We also offer a steel boned version of this style.
These corsets feature cut in one bound tabs, English cotton coutil strength layer, twill lining, and spiral lacing with two piece nickel grommets up center front. The fashion fabric is cotton sateen in a gorgeous buttercream color. The side and back seams are alterable, as is the strap angle. Plus Sizing (18-26 Womens) features additional boning for added support.
The 1780's style features a lower bust line, more extreme diagonal style lines, and is overall about 3/4"-1" shorter than our earlier period closed front stays. It creates the conical torso with small waist, lower prow-front bosom, and drawn-back shoulders. The front lacing simplifies dressing, and the closed back makes for a lovely smooth line beneath Anglaise and Italian gowns.
These stays are pictured with an optional stomacher. Add one to your order for added front support and sizing flexibility. A stomacher addition allows more endowed ladies to lace a bit looser in the bust.
