1780's-1790's False Rump Padding
Our split "false rumps" are based on historical depictions and descriptions, and create the perfect round, full silhouette for later 18th century gowns. We admit that they look a little goofy on their own without a skirt to weigh them down, so we have included a photo of a completed ensemble worn over the rumps.
All skirt supports are made from the same high quality cotton sateen that we use for the fashion fabric on our corsets, so the undergarments coordinate. The pillows are stuffed with polyester fiberfill, which is lightweight and slow to collapse. A twill tape band ties at the waist, and is long enough to be tied at the side instead of center front, if you wish to cut down on bulk.
A NOTE ON SIZING: The models are wearing the size Small in all photos. Sizing is more a matter of personal scale preference rather than a question of specific fit.
All Redthreaded skirt supports are handmade in small batches by a local non-profit. Partnership with Mile High Workshop allows us to bring you more historical accessories than we would otherwise be able to make in-house, and to help create even more jobs within our community. We are proud to help bring manufacturing back to the USA!
